…for Filipinas here in Singapore.
On our way to the Botanical Garden last Sunday, we saw a flock of Filipinas with big plastic and paper bags. They all seemed to be heading to a place. Since i had my new toy with me, we pretended to be a paparazzi. We followed them. And these are what we saw:
they were having sinigang na bangus and adobo

the place was located at the back of WISMA Atria. It wasn’t a park but every Sunday it becomes one

food republic in wisma

Yesterday before going to the Botanical Garden, boyps and I decided to have our Sunday lunch at Food Republic in WISMA Atria instead of Lucky Plaza because it was so crowded.
Whenever we eat at Food Republic, we always order for two of our favorite Singapore food- Hokkien Mee and Chicken Rice. As expected, Seargent Hainanese Chicken did not fail to satisfy me. It’s still the best cheap chicken rice in Singapore. As for the Hokkien Mee, it was a disappointment. Why oh why did it taste that bad?

So if you guys want to try Hokkien Mee, i wouldn’t recommend Food Republic in Wisma Atria. Go to the other branches like Suntec City or Vivo City instead.
Lucky Plaza

When I came here in Singapore 2 years ago I felt homesick as soon as I arrived. It got worse since I had to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks and the only food that I could afford, at that time, were from hawkers and kopitiams. It’s not that the food was bad but the taste was just very different from what I’m used to eat.
No one told me (well that’s because i didn’t know any Filipinos at that time) that there’s this ‘Mall for Filipinos’ and that they have lots of turoturo stalls, if I may call it, that serves Filipino food at reasonable price of 5 SGD. I only learned about it a month after. I was thrilled. A month without adobo, sinigang or tinola for me like food was like hunger strike. Anyway, the name of mall I’m talking about is Lucky Plaza. It’s along side big shopping malls in Orchard. It’s not a classy mall like it’s neighbors but it’s still my second best favorite place here in Singapore. Aside from the eateries, there are also mini-grocery shops in LP (as what we call it) that sells imported Filipino products (it’s only here that we can call our own products IMPORTED-naks!). So when we found a permanent place to live in, we excitedly bought cooking tools and bought staple ingredients of Filipino food like toyo, suka, patis, pansigang, bagoong, alamang and started cooking our own food. Then there’s the famous noodle junk food Lucky Me Pancit canton (iba talaga kapag may MSG hahaha).
Now im not that homesick anymore!
